Italy is the worlds largest producer of wine and home to some of the oldest wine regions in the world. Italian wines are produced all over the country but the main areas with DOCG status (controlled and guaranteed designation of origin) are concentrated in Piedmont, Lombardia, Veneto, and Tuscany. Italy has documented over 350 grape varieties, but the most sought after are Barolo, Barbaresco, and Brunello di Montalcin, or otherwise known as the Killer B’s.
