Tasting Notes
Similarly elegant yet powerful on the palate with lashings of dense, silky tannins masterfully joined by plush red fruit, showing beautiful vibrancy and concentration. Nuances, textures and layers of brilliance with tobacco leaf and some graphite, offering a savoury, mineral edge and dry finish. An utterly exemplary wine, representative of a truly fabled vintage.

Vintage Conditions
Leaf fall occurred at the normal time which allowed good reserves to build up. Winter started late with warmer day and night temperatures and lower rainfall than in the 2016 growing season. A warm spring resulted in early, however uniform budding. A cool yet dry and windy November/December resulted in drier soils and small berries. January rains moistened soils and cool evening temperatures allowed for slower ripening of our grapes. A remarkable vintage featuring wines of outstanding quality and longevity.

Uva Mira translates as "The Wonderful Grape". Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm. Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards is located within the area widely recognised as the “Golden Triangle,” renowned for its noble grape varieties and production of wines of outstanding quality. Our Estate is 127 hectares in size - 33 hectares of which are under vine. Six varietals are grown, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our vineyards are positioned between 260 and 620 metres above sea level and only nine kilometres from False Bay. This creates the climate for wines that are by definition elegant in style.
