Winemakers Comments
Bright straw green. Concentrated aromas of pear and stone fruit fused with spice, complemented by lifted floral notes. A subtle soft richness, overlying honey, and golden delicious apples lead to an excellent structure, fleshy nectarine lead by fine acidity, a degree of spiciness and a refreshingly dry finish.

Cellar Techniques
Each year we choose some of our Pinot Noir grapes, that are lightly coloured, to make a softer red wine, which we think is all about summer, called Rosé. These grapes go straight into the press, to preserve the bright pink colour. Like Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, Rosé doesn’t spend any time in the barrel so gets bottled within a few months of being picked.

Winery
After setting up Volcanic Hills in 2009 and using borrowed winery space, we opened our Tasting Room with a gorgeous view overlooking Lake Rotorua, at the top of the Skyline Gondola in 2012. Our winery at the base of the Gondola opened for the 2013 winemaking vintage.
Our grapes are chosen from the best wine growing regions around New Zealand and arrive fresh and cold, ready to start their journey to becoming a fine wine for you to enjoy.
The main reason we make wine is for people to enjoy it! We love it when people smile and choose their favourite wine style from our range.
